Following the success of Trinity Laban’s two previous festivals devoted to the string quartet, the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, will once again resonate with the sounds of ‘strings and things’ as the Royal Greenwich String Quartet Festival returns for this major celebration of the genre and of Trinity Laban’s own chamber music programme. Concerts cover the evolution of the string quartet from Haydn, performed by the Quatuor Mosaiques, world famous period performance specialists, through the genius of Mozart, with a special emphasis on the works of Beethoven, from some of his earliest to his latest masterpieces. Then on to Schumann, Janaček, Schnittke and beyond, including installations and a ground-breaking meeting of music and science in the Cutty Sark, Royal Museums Greenwich, where you can be the first to hear the world premiere of Deirdre Gribbin’s new work Hearing Your Genes Evolve.
