The youthful charm of one of Elgar’s earliest compositions Serenade for Strings is paired with a neoclassical textural work by Bartók and Panufnik’s Violin Concerto, which was written at the special request of Yehudi Menuhin and displays ‘his unique spiritual and poetic qualities’.
