The Popular Culture Research Unit of the School of Performance and Screen Studies is delighted to welcome Dr Lorna Piatti-Farnell, Associate Professor in Popular and Media Culture at the Auckland University of Technology, to present her latest research around the way the horror genre uses the representation of food and culinary experiences to as metaphorical sites for fear and revulsion.
Drawing on films such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Sixth Sense and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover (pictured), Dr Farnell will explore how the power of food is marshalled to reveal the horrific secrets that lay hidden beneath the surface of cultural and social propriety.
We will be closing the booking for this discussion on #gendered workloads in #academia tomorrow afternoon, to allow full and frank discussion, the event will NOT be recorded, so if you would like to be part of the conversation, please reserve your place ASAP. twitter.com/gemmaouten/sta…
