Michael Schudson is Professor of Journalism and Adjunct Professor of Sociology at Columbia University. He is the author of seven books and co-editor of three others. His works include Discovering the News: A Social History of American Newspapers (1978), Why Democracies Need an Unlovable Press (2008) and The Sociology of News (2011). His latest book is entitled The Rise of the Right to Know (2015).
