The arts of resilience for leadership and management
After a highly successful inaugural Symposium in New York City, the second symposium deepens consideration through its theme of resilience. Managers must lead organizations in today’s increasing ambiguity, unpredictability and complexity and not in the imagined stable and rational contexts of yesteryear (which may never have existed). Developing resilience for unknown threats and opportunities cannot be achieved by rationality and logic alone. They need also more profound qualities, both human and procedural.
We know management is both science and art. The Art of Management Symposium addresses the drivers, forms, contents and impact of today’s models for survival and growth, and the novel approaches and tools of management that drive sustainability, growth and value creation in our new business era.
The Arts of Management Symposium aims to be an Agora, a knowledge gathering and space to learn, debate, and share views on the future of management. It has also been synchronized with a Cass Celebrity lecture on 17th April, by Neil Mullarkey, one of the UK’s most engaging speakers on leadership, and a long-term collaborator with Cass Business School.
Professor Clive Holtham of Cass Business School is the local organiser for the event.
