Christina McMaster presents an illustrated talk on pioneering American composer Ruth Crawford-Seeger, exploring her unique poetic and mystical style, from the Scriabin-esque inflections of her Preludes to the grittier Study for Mixed Accents.
Tough, changing times forced Crawford-Seeger to change paths, as she became a prolific folk music transcriber and later a mother and teacher (through osmosis) to her daughter Peggy Seeger.
Christina McMaster is a pianist, curator, composer, and is also Artist Relations and Promotions Manager at Warner Classics. She performs extensively, has given live performances on BBC radio and Classic FM, and has collaborated with artists/industries from folk, jazz, rap, science and fashion. Christina founded Lie Down and Listen in 2018: a lying-down concert experience preceded by meditation and restorative yoga.
