Join Loughborough University London to hear from three highly accomplished Loughborough University alumnae as they share their top tips and career experiences.
Sue Conder (Partner, Deloitte)
Sue read Psychology at Loughborough University before graduating in 1982. For over 30 years, she has worked with organisations to align people with business strategy covering: people strategy, talent management, organisation design, change management, and organisation development. She works with senior executives and their teams on organisational change including personal change and transition.The use of practical, thought provoking approaches to create fresh insights is a core part of Sue’s work. She seeks to unlocking the power of diversity, and harness peoples’ strengths and passions for the benefit of everyone, and organisational high performance. Sue is passionate about harnessing the talents of the next generation. Her career has spanned most sectors; private and public. She is a fellow of the CIPD and a Chartered Occupational Psychologist.
Andrea graduated in 1991 with a BA (Hons) in Business Administration with a Modern Language from Loughborough University. Following the international graduate training programme at Deutsche Bank, she started her career in infrastructure & project financing in Frankfurt. Her experience in European infrastructure financing covers lending, M&A advisory and investment management working for Barclays Capital, ING and since 2011 in the renewable energy sector for Climate Change Capital and Greencoat Capital, where she was Chief Operating Officer and now works part-time as the Chair of the Valuation Committee.Currently, Andrea has a portfolio of interests including sitting on the UEA Student Enterprise Fund investment committee, NED of a business angel network in East Anglia, NED of a student start-up and teaching post-graduate students. She is a fellow of the Institute of Directors and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Lisa read Banking and Finance at Loughborough University before joining Arthur Andersen as a graduate trainee in 1988, where she qualified as a chartered accountant. She then transferred to Business Consulting where she worked for clients in a range of sectors where her specialisms included leadership development, culture change, merger integration and talent management. In 2002, Lisa joined Deloitte as Director of Brand and Communication.Following a career break in 2009, Lisa founded She’s Back, a business which enables talented, experienced women to return to work after a long career break. Lisa is also CEO of Reignite Academy, which provides opportunities for “career break” lawyers to return to private practice and get back onto Partner track.
Fiona Liu (Manager, Deloitte; Director, Slugu UK Research and Innovation Centre)
Fiona is a manager in Deloitte Risk Advisory, leading restructure and business migration projects for financial services clients, including global banks, asset managers and insurance companies. Before joining Deloitte, Fiona was a Risk Manager in HSBC Global Banking and Markets, and a Research Analysis in Aberdeen Asset Management.Fiona is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and holds a Master degree in the University of Edinburgh. Before coming to the UK, Fiona got a Bachelor degree from Dongbei University of Finance and Economy in China.Fiona is active on career coaching. She coaches a few junior staff on their career development in Deloitte, HSBC, and the whole financial services industry. Fiona is a Director of Slugu UK Research and Innovation Centre, which is a non-profit organisation, aiming at helping students to achieve career goals in the UK, either through job applications for big organisations or setting up your own business.
